The grades
- Kiboko. Dried Robusta cherry, unhulled. Bought by weight at farm gate and village stores.
- FAQ Robusta. Fair Average Quality: hulled Robusta before grading. The reference price most exporters buy on.
- Screen 18. Robusta retained on screen 18. Premium export grade.
- Screen 15. Robusta retained on screen 15. The core export grade.
- Screen 12. Robusta retained on screen 12. Smaller bean, discounted to 15.
- Washed Robusta. Fully washed Robusta. Sold at a premium over naturals.
- Arabica Parchment. Washed Arabica in parchment, before hulling.
- Drugar. Dry-processed (natural) Ugandan Arabica, clean.
- Bugisu AA. Washed Mount Elgon Arabica, top screen grade.
- Bugisu A. Washed Mount Elgon Arabica, A grade.
- Bugisu PB. Washed Mount Elgon Arabica, peaberry.
- Bugisu B. Washed Mount Elgon Arabica, B grade.
- WUGAR. Washed Ugandan Arabica from outside Mount Elgon.
FAQ and Kiboko prices, and what they are not
A composite here is what verified buyers are paying, not an offer, a quotation or a price anyone is obliged to honour. Prices vary by moisture, out-turn, quantity and the buyer’s own position. To see the most an exporter could pay at today’s London price, use the maximum buying price tool with your own recovery and costs.
How the composite is built
Stale prices, duplicates from one contributor, impossible values and statistical outliers are removed, and a composite is published only when at least three independent contributors remain. Otherwise the table says “insufficient current observations”. Read the full methodology.
